Rethinking Stages of Change

James Prochaska and colleagues crystallized their stages of change model in 1997, and the rest of us have been drinking transtheoretical Kool Aid ever since. Because we health promotion professionals felt so marginalized up until then, when a theory devoted specifically to how people change, presented by a respected behavioral researcher, came along we bought it hook, line, and sinker.
